I have a havalon . If you get one make sure to get a few of the plastic clips that help change the blade out . Makes the blade swap a lot easier .

Yes they will!! First time using mine last week and sliced open a thumb!

Havalon for sure. When they first came out I thought what a joke...what will they one up with next? Now I'd say I will never be without my Havalon knives. The two I bought:

                Baracuta Blaze
                Larger knife and thick blade

                Paranta Torch
                Smaller knife w/ thick blade

Side note...For the Piranta Torch the #60A blade is 20% thicker and 30% stiffer than the #60XT blade (the #70A is like the #60A except has a blunt end to prevent puncturing the hide when caping)
                Baracuta bone saw replacement blades
                Paranta gut hook replacement blades

I just started using Havalon last summer. I've cleaned quite a few animals with it. It's practically a scalpel...you have to learn how to use it or you will break blades. Takes a light hand and little finesse to use it right.

I have a Havalon and it's great. EXCEPT: if you don't fully pull the blade into place- like with needle nose pliers as they recommend, when you replace it -it can come off while cutting. We had that happen cutting up inside the chest cavity on the trachea and had to sweat whether we could find it and get it out- without cutting ourselves. We dislodged it finally by accident with the hose pressure washing the chest cavity.

Don't want to send a gutted deer to the processor with a blade lodged in the meat of the carcass!

Cannot speak for Outdoor Edge one way or another.

I have both and the outdoor edge is better IMO. Have broken a blade or two with the havalon. Outdoor edge is sturdier and bigger....fits my hand better.

I have both and use both. I love the Havalon for skinning or other fine cutting and that is the knife I carry 24/7. the Outdoor Edge is a tougher blade, although not like a good strong knife, but I like to use it when I gut an animal. I also have the Jim Shockey Havalon Signature knife that has a great, strong regular knife blade and a replaceable blade that is stronger that the smaller Havalon blades. I love all 3 and use all 3, depends on what I am doing.

I have both and prefer the outdoor edge. It feels more solid. I was able to split a ribcage with it. I would hesitate to attempt that with the havalon based on the thin blade with no backbone. Now I do prefer the havalon when I'm picking a skull clean.

Thanks for the input. Think I'm gonna snag the edge. It'll be kind of a do all type of knife, don't have anything in particular I want it for, just want it for everything. Haha
