    Muzzleloader question

Using 2 50gr triple seven pellets in a 28" barrel, which bullet would you prefer?
    1) a 245 grain hollow point sabot
    2) a 295 grain hollow point sabot

I know I'll get many different responses, like asking whats the best truck or broad head, but just using these 2 bullets which would you prefer for deer?

I am assuming you are using an inline and 209 primer? Not a true sidelock?
Difference is that I, when I do shoot my muzzleloader, shoot Patched round ball and about 75 grains of powder. My gun shoots the PRB plenty good, but I have shot it quite a bit in the past to make sure I know my shot pattern.
The real answer to your question is which does your gun seem to prefer? If 100 grains of Triple7 is you worked out load then one of those should hit more where you want then the other. Personally I believe that the 245 sabot is more then sufficient for anything you may encounter here in Texas. And that 50 grain difference may not be easily seen until longer distances are achieved.
I have never been a fan of the bigger the lead the better in any rifle or gun regardless of game. It is about what feels the best and you shoot confidently.
I have some Excessive leads that I occasionally mess with. They are 385 grain buffalo bullets. Hollow on the front and open cone over the charge. LOTS of felt recoil and little blow by. It's a nasty hole in EVERYTHING, but very much overkill.
Find your load, and bullet and stick with it. Good Luck

I shoot a 250 for everything, from mulies to oryx. All down upon impact

I'd have no problem shooting elk or moose with my combo.

245 gr has worked great for me with two pellets. I do not shoot anything over a hundred yards.

I saw another lease member take two does a few days ago with the same exact setup. Dropped them in their tracks.

If it were my situation, I'd check the 245gr for grouping with your 2 pellets first. If you don't like it, then try others.

I shoot loose powder w/lead which allowed me to really dial-in a heavy bullet, 350gr. Pellets are illegal in a couple states I like to hunt in.
