    Feeder

I hunt in Red River County were the deer are some what spooked by an feeder, it's an love and hate relationship with them. My question is which feeder would be better for somewhat spooky deer. An classic tripod or an winch up feeder. Please advise. Thanks

Both of those have three legs and a barrel...one just winches up. Neither would provide any different view to a deer..

If you could get one to winch up into a tree it would be something different.

So higher is better, when it comes to feeders?

This would be more of a "no man made item on the ground is better than something on the ground" if you have deer that are spooky of feeders.

The Capsule feeder would be a good option.

Small Feeder up in a tree 15ft or handcorn if you are close to the lease may be an option.

How long have you been feeding?

I have used 4 inch PVC feeders attached to the base of the tree. You can make them for pretty cheap. Youtube it

This seems to help for cautious deer.

                    Good luck sir!

Are you saying the deer don't like the feeder being there or that the noise they make when throwing corn is the problem?

Put on a drum style feeder and use a winch system to put it high in the air. Feeding every day but feeder isn't visible and doesn't make the feeder noise. Deer just know corn is there every day in the same spot.

Another option might be trying a short feeder tucked into some brush with a good directional unit on it (like a Krivoman directional).

You can get the feeder out of the way and have it throwing out into an area.

Quite Feeder or a directional that is brushed in!

The Ghost Feeder, Drop Dead Fred did a thread on his and had some nice mature East Tx bucks coming to his.
