Need to wire up a 1.5HP pool pump

I need advice on wiring up a 1.5HP pool pump for my 16'x32' above ground pool. Its a combined 4800GPH 110V pump motor and 120 cubic foot cartridge filter I'm wanting to buy as a replacement. The old one is a 3000GPH pump and sand filter that came with the pool. Both the old and new have 3 prong plugs which I assume make them 15 amp service. I had buried a heavy duty extension cord from an outside 110V receptacle to a 3-way splitter where the old pump is still located, to power the pump, salt system, and some LED rope lighting.

I'm debating removing the salt system from the pool which will lower the load.

I'm wondering if I should run a dedicated 110V wire out to the new pump motor from my breaker panel, or continue using an outside receptacle? Running a new line will be a pain in the butt to do. I have a circuit dedicated to just Christmas lights that I may be able to tie into. If I need to run a new wire, any idea what size wire... 10 or 12 gauge? What size breaker? It's about 80' from the breaker panel to the pump.

I'll be installing an in-ground pool within a few years and I'm assuming they'll be using a 50 amp breaker. At least they did at my last house.

Speaking from experience (both professionally and having a pool at home), you need a minimum of 12 ga wire for a dedicated circut and thats pushing it being 80' away. 10 ga would be better especially if you plan to add anything else (lighting, cl2 generator, etc). Also, get away from the plugs and hard wire it. Over time, you are going to start melting plugs/recepticals due to corrosion. Corrosion will also cause your amp draw (read watt usage) to go up and increase your electric bill. If you just have to have the plugs, you are going to need 20A rated at a minimum (quick google search shows 19.2A on a similar pump). If the pump can be wired 220, this would be an even better option!

After melting several plugs/recepticals, I hard wired mine to a 20A breaker with 12ga romex buried in 3/4" PVC conduit but the run was only about 20'. That is what I had on hand when it melted the third plug on a sunday afternoon, but if I were buying the stuff, Id have went with a 30A breaker and 10ga THHN stranded wire.
