Western Hunting Application Services - Recommendations

I am looking into a couple different services for applying for 2017 Elk and Mule Deer hunts and looking for recommendations. Right now I am leaning towards Cabelas TAGS but also looked at Hunting Fool. Any of you have experience with these services and can give me the pro's and con's?

I am looking at Cabelas myself, I think DOCMAY uses them.

    I will be following this.

Also how do these things work?

Simply say "I want to hunt this and this in these 2 states, here's my money and put me in the best units possible considering years it takes to be drawn/animal #'s/pressure"?

I'm completely 100% new to hunting out west but plan on buying PP this year in numerous states for multiple animals

I have used Huntin fool for an antelope and 2 mule deer hunts and they are great-also have a fantastic magazine with membership. They are always quick to reply and I have spent a few hours on the phone with there staffers and they are very willing to share info.

I do it all myself but the service you might want to consider is Epic, they are only about 3 years old, the guys that have it were at huntinfool prior to the sale or that service.

So far thank you all for the input. I would like more feedback on Cabelas. One thing I really like from what I read is that they carry the application cost for you. Its by no means a deal breaker for me its just always nice to use other peoples money and keep mine in my own pocket.

I use WTA TAGS which used to be Cabelas TAGS. I have been with them for 12+ years. Have drawn a bunch of good tags including 2 elk tags in the gila, an elk tag in Nevada, and a great elk tag in Wyoming. I have had 2 ibex tags in New Mexico, a bison tag in Wyoming, a mule deer tag in Nevada, two Iowa deer tags and others. I apply for 23-24 tags each year and no way I could keep it all straight. A service works for me. I work with Eric Pawlek. He has sent me to some great places over the years!

I had no idea Jason Carter had moved on since I haven't done a hunt in a few years. I might have to look at moving over from Huntin Fool..Jason is a wealth of knowledge and has killed some incredible public land mulies!

                        Why?????

Save yourself some money and do it. It's not complicated at all.

Thanks! Do you normally specify units you want or just take their recommendations? Also, what about dates, to me that is important to juggle my time around work, family and some other annuals hunts I do.

                            Because I can

I've done it myself and it takes a lot of time to do the proper research. Time I don't have to give unless I steal it from my family. Even if I draw out I will then have to either get a guide or spend the time doing my homework, so I want to minimize the impact where I can.
