Wide stable base. keep it simple. Just a platform on top is fine. I got one with separate mesh seats and I don't like it near as well. I put a skirt around mine. Helped a lot with movement protection.
I did have to stand up to shoot bow, but was a great rifle stand till the tree it was strapped to fell over.
And...secure the top well and replace the strap each year. The sun tears them up. along the lines of securing the top...
I put one together a few years ago and leaned it up against the basketball goal.(and straped it down). It was only about 6 feet up. My son went to get in it and was less than graceful(or carful) and spun the dang thing around throwing him out. Luckily it did not hit my truck...he bounced just fine.

If you buy those cheapies from Academy and wally world, watch them carefully for corrosion if you plan to put them here in East Texas... their paint job is not very good. I bought one of the game winners from Academy a few years back. By the end of the second season of being out strapped to a big ol' cypress tree, it had several places that were rusted through to the point it was not safe.

Amen bro. I've frozen, sweat, been hungry, been bored, and managed to stay in the stand to battle it out. But a numb to aching derrière will cause me to wimp out quick. I bring stadium cushions to sit on with mine and that has helped tremendously.
