    New Carpet-Help

Has anyone bought carpet from lowes before and got the "free" installation. They are saying I just pay for the carpet and they do all the rest for free. Take old carpet out, move furniture, and put new carpet in. Got a quote from a local place and it's 1500 dollars higher because of cost of labor. So anyone who has bought carpet from lowes recently, was it really free installation?

Couldn't say for sure but you are paying for quality installers at the other place. Like guys who have worked at the same place for twenty years. At least that's what you get at my place.

They do as good a job as anyone else. All work is guaranteed.

I've heard horror stories of the installs. Looks fine @ first (if they don't scratch your walls all up, break trim, bust furniture) but will soon start getting wrinkles due to not being power stretched properly, seams separating, etc.

We priced Lowes vs a local guy. The local guy quoted us a price including everything. Lowes' carpet was cheaper, then you have to pay for the carpet pad, then add in new tack strips. And then with Lowes, you have to move the furniture and everything yourself, plus remove old carpet. In the end, our local guy was right at the same price as Lowes after we added everything else up, so we went with the local guy

Lowes uses contractors to install. Find out who they use and research that contractor. Might be your local guy. Who knows?

I have done it all three ways. Done it myself, Lowes and a local place. My local place was about the same price as Lowes over all for much better carpet. I am VERY cost conscious ( ie cheap ) but dont always go with cheapest.

We did back in June. Think it was around 1,000sqf. 3 bedrooms and closets. Got free install and free upgrade to the memory foam padding (it's awesome btw and would highly recommend getting it) We are very pleased with it and they were in and out in a couple of hours. They even installed new tack strips that was included. But we had just bought the house and had no furniture in and I removed all of the carpet.

The contractor that did ours came out of dallas. Same thing for counter tops too. Not sure how that's cost effective but they did. I will say that there was a language barrier though
