It seems that if you are claiming ag exempt on your taxes they are sending them out. I have nothing to hide, but why would they be sending it out? All they have to do is look at each county and see who has and why they have claimed ag exempt. Maybe my tin foil hat needs adjusting, and they are saying you must reply under penalty of law!

So who has received one and how did you respond?

My Dad got one 2 years ago and filled it out. We lease our place for grazing and have nothing to hide. I think it's similar to a tax audit. There has to be a system of checks and balances. My Dad never saw one of these before. If you are truly are ag exempt then you shouldn't fret

We get them, and I have thrown them away some years and filled them out other years

Nobody has shown up to arrest me yet

How would they ever prove you got it anyway? Just claim it must have been lost in the mail

Pretty sure they use the info to determine stuff like budgeting for farm programs for the government

It's just a survey. Many gov't orgs do this such a thing. No big deal either way on filling it out or not.

This just shows the inefficiencies of government. You have probably submitted this information to one area or another, but they can't even cross coordinate with other departments or bureaucracies. Crazy, but it's easier for them to just ask you for the information and the response rate is probably better!
