    Ford service department ripoff.

My MIL went to the Ford dealership in Pearland to get her oil changed. I picked her up and we went to breakfast while they were doing the work. They called back and said they recommend changing the battery because it was 5 years old and she said OK. When we got back to the dealership, I asked if they could put the old battery in the back of my truck so I could use it on the tractor. That's when the song and dance started. They calmed the terminal was so badly corroded that the post came out of the battery along with the terminal. Here is a picture of the Badly corroded terminal and the post that they pryed up and cut out of the battery.

THEN, they tried to tell my MIL that the whole wire needed to be changed and that cost $700. I hit the roof. They tried telling me that they didn't stock just the terminal and the only way Ford would let them fix it is by "changing the whole negative wiring harness". How do people sleep at night after trying to take advantage of the elderly like that. If I hadn't been there she would have had a $1K bill.

When she gets surveyed tell her to rip them a new one! Give the worst rating on everything a large portion of their pay is based on that survey and they will get burned by the dealership and FomoCo. She can also bring that up while discussing then. Charges. I have just gone through something very similar

SOBs like that need all the publicity they can get.

I have never been to a dealership service department that did not put the screws to the customer. Typically, the price they seem to always want $1300 minimum.

That's why they are called "stealerships". Nobody made that name up, they earned it.

This is why I refused to ever work for a stealership. I could not, in good conscious, work on someone's vehicle and purposely rip them off.

              Ouch!
I have a couple stories myself...
I will never go to a dealership to have work done on anything unless its warranty work.

The BS started when they said she needed a new battery in the first place.

So how much were they going to hit her for the battery replacement alone?

She had just told me she was thinking about getting a new one so when they said that I just left it alone.

They charge $145 for a new battery. I let her pay that because I was dealing with an elderly woman that doesn't like to be told what to do. I put my foot down when it came to the $700 battery cable.

$145 is not too bad for a battery.

Was it the dealership at 288 & CR59? If so I wouldn't send my worst enemy there. I live a mile from there and have heard nothing but horror stories from locals that used them

I've always been treated right at McRee, bought my wife a 2016 explorer there last year for a good price, got it fixed there when we got rearended and just recently had some warranty work done. Nothin bad at all to say about em

Yes it was. It's the closest to me here in Manvel. I just bought about $600 in parts for my 7.3L from them and wish I had went elsewhere now. I'll never go back that's for sure.
