I wonder what civil-restitution is on a 200+ inch deer? Heard of this case but never seen a pic of the buck.

I'd guess $12,000-$15,000 since that is the general price for the trophy fee for a deer that size.

I usually read these every time they are posted. All of them just make me shake my head. Can you just imagine how much is not caught and how many animals, birds and fish are poached each year by people like this? Amazing and sad at the same time...

I guess they just write up the really egregious cases, because it's never the case that someone had a license and permission to hunt and just killed an extra mallard hen or something by accident. Instead they're shooting from the road AND don't have a license AND they don't have landowner consent AND they shot it with a rifle in an archery-only county AND they conveniently provide evidence by have a picture of themselves posing with the deceased (deer) on their phone. Brilliant! Not.

Speaking of brilliant: turns out that hunter orange doesn't work too well for "hiding."

Haha. The hunter laying there hiding with hunter orange on is hilarious.

Sad to see laws broken with kids involved.

I was glad to see the wardens only cited the dad and taught the kids the proper way to tag their birds!

Man, My Cass County area is too close to a lot of those violations. those Game Wardens stay extra busy all the time.

I agree about teaching the kids. Great job, Wardens.

The Grayson county buck has to be a misprint. Everyone knows there are no deer in Grayson co. [emoji6]

There was a case involving our local game warden I was hoping to see posted in that this year, but I guess it wont happen. This story was told to me by a friend, who knows our game warden.

Warden was making his rounds this season and went into a hunters camp. Hunter had a nice buck hanging. Warden checked everyone and everything was 100% legal. Warden hangs out for a while just mingling with the hunters. Hunter and Warden even exchange phone numbers.

Fast forward to later in the season, Warden receives a text message from Hunter, and he is showing off another nice 13+" buck. "Warden, check out my nice buck!"

"Uhhh...dude, you already killed your big buck for the year." Warder confiscates deer and gives hunter citation. Hunter says he thought it was a 2 buck county. County is 1 13" buck and 1 unbranched antler buck. Has been ever since they started AR.

That's a shame. It sounds like it was an honest mistake, BUT it's not hard to read the book, or get the app on your phone.

After thinking about it, I cant remember if the story I heard included a citation or not. He might've actually just confiscated it.
