IBO Rules in regard to String Walking

Question....do IBO sanctioned 3D tournaments allow for string walking in the "Traditional Hunter" class? I was looking over the 2016 rules, and unlike in the Recurve or Longbow class, it isn't explicitly called out that the "index finger must touch the nock."

I've been slowly moving towards Trad shooting, but right now my setup prevents me from competing in the "Trad Hunter" since my Longbow has a machined aluminum riser. When I get a new recurve next year, I'm definitely going with a wood based riser (probably a Palmer bow). Would love to be able to carry over my string walking.

As always, thanks for the insight!

I am not 100% sure, but believe that the only class you can string walk in is Recurve Unaided. The Trad Hunter class is a new class that was just started 2 seasons ago for guys shooting heavy hunting arrows. Your arrow must weigh 10gpp, and be at least 450gr.

Also, I see you are in Round Rock. There is a pretty good group of local guys who shoot all the local 3D shoots. You should come join in the fun some time (but if you string walk, they won't let you compete, you would just have to shoot for fun).

Hey Bisch....we've met a couple times at Double G's. We should meet up when the HCB 3D shoots start back up in Feb. Those are always allot of fun.

I'd always shot my compound but late in the season last year I did one shoot with my longbow--only lost 1 arrow. :-)

I shoot that longbow off the shelf, with no other add-ons. I've just found it extremely helpful to nock my point on distance of 20 yards and adjust high or low according to estimated target distance. I can see why it's not allowed. :-)
