I came across my first rattler couple weeks back myself. Big timber rattler at the lease in Lee County. I let it crawl away. No camera for pictures but it was cool to come across. Will keep a closer watch on the kids or at least try and educate them if they see a snake to leave it alone.

Smart decision, timbers are protected in this state. It is illegal to kill, harass, impede, harm, ect. them.

Why does everyone seem to hate snakes?
I could understand it, if they crawled in bed with ya. But they are a valuable tool in the control of Rats and mice and many other rodents.Come on, You all know this! Stop killing'em please, unless they are a threat.
Hey I'm not skeered of'em unless they surprise me. Give'em the respect they deserve and their no problem. OK?

I have no problem leaving all the non-venomous snakes alive and well for rodent control. Rattlers die.

That is one of the most ignorant statements possible on the situation.

My daughter has a Corn Snake.
                              Ya, can't teach'em to track.
                              He don't come when I call'em
And forget about putting a collar on him.
But he does love his Pet Smart mice.
But, he always stimulates living room conservation
