    Hate fakes!

Bought a MicroSD for recording 4k footage while on vacation and for high res pictures to make a vacation highlight video...card took a crap towards end of vacation and just confirmed with SanDisk that it's a fake.

Lost everything. --- Like my wife said, at least it wasn't a video of our first baby being born or an irreplaceable memory like that, but it still gets me all kinds of fired up that I just lost all of that.

Bummer dude. Where did you get it?

I have a feeling the card in my GoPro might be a fake. Super high end card and I still get choppy 1080p video.

eBay...should have been my first hint. Seller had good feedback though. He's giving me a refund so he says.

Curious - how did San Disk confirm that it was a fake?

Can you now tell a fake from the real thing? Asking because I bought some off Amazon a few months ago. They seem to be working fine but I would like to know if they are fake.

The seller told me he bought them off of Amazon and didn't use them. SanDisk said the serial on the card will be 12 or 13 digits and start with an numeric letter. What a numeric letter is I'm not 100% sure. Mine wasn't near 12 digits long.

I read an article awhile back talking about sandisk cards being one of the most common counterfeit items on Amazon. I'll see if I can find a link

Reminds me of the cable guy joke. Monopoly money for the stripper with fake...assets.

If I would have known I wouldn't have risked it. Had no idea they faked these. What's crazy is it formatted fine and showed the correct space. Crapped out after about 15 minutes of 4K video though.

Makes me sick. Lesson learned though. Suck it up and buy from Best Buy next time.

It's a memory card. Was using it to store videos and pictures to and it crapped out so now I can't get any of my content off of it.

I'm planning to take it to an electronics store to see if they can get anything from it, but I doubt they'll be able to. We'll see.
