Frustrated and Happy at the same time.

My parents and I just bought a small piece of property in Bandera. It is loaded w axis and some whitetail and hogs. I have hunted hard and have yet to seal the deal on anything but a jackrabbit. I do all the bowhunter stuff-shower before every hunt, wash clothes, scent free everything. So this evening I put my mom in the stand w a crossbow. Keep I'm mind she is wearing the same clothes she cooked breakfast and lunch in and worked on our cabin all day. She is in the stand 15 minutes and had an axis doe down. I'm blanked. Frustrated but happy for her.

Haha, that's just the luck of the draw I guess lol. Same clothes since breakfast, heck she was probably being real loud too.

I've come to the understanding and acceptance that some people are just lucky that way. Others, like myself, just have to be content to kill whatever nature presents that's legal and I'm happy with it. Just the way it is sometimes. lol

Sounds like you need to hang bacon on your camo

Did the smell of momma's breakfast get you to come running?

I know what you mean. Beginning of the season I sit a stand 3 hunts to shoot a genetically challenged 5 pt. that comes to the feeder like clock work but he doesn't show. I swap stands with my son for the last morning and he has him down by 7 am. Then 2 weeks ago I plan on knocking down a doe for meat and my son agrees that it's "my turn to pull the trigger". What happens? I'm covered in yearlings and bucks and he has doe all over him. Hopefully my luck changes this weekend. Some times it is just the way it is.

Depending on how small the property is and if there are other houses around if you want to get real lucky have someone run a chainsaw or weedeater back at camp the entire time you're hunting.
