Went to start my boat at the ramp yesterday and the starter just clicked like it would when the battery was dead. I thought it was as simple as the huge temp drop drained the battery. Walked to our hunting spot and came home and charged the battery.
This morning, hooked the battery up, turned the key and the starter was spinning but didnt elevate and engage the flywheel. Tried another battery, starter spun and engaged, but only spin the flywheel a hair and stopped each time I attempted to start. Tried 3rd battery with same effect.
We left and hunted a walk in spot.
Came home and around noon walked outside to look at it. One turn and the engine started right up as usual.
Does anyone have any clues to why the cold weather would have this effect and what I can do to fix it? This boat has been run daily for the past 12 days.
