Lots of movement Friday afternoon and Saturday morning before the front hit about noon. Only deer I saw Saturday evenng was the Big 9 i was after snd he showed right before last shooting light. He is now my biggest buck to date with a bow. Tough hunting last nght with the temps and winds.
Anyone see anything moving in all this wind today?
Okay so quite a few have responded. Some saw quite a bit of movement and some none (me). Now I have to wonder. Is it just totally random that some of us saw nothing moving and others did? Or was it location specific? Or were the ones who saw movement just lucky to do so?
We usually see up to a dozen deer roaming around our camp area (no hunting) going to and from the protein feeder at sunup and sundown. They didn't move at all with with the strong south wind or the north wind. This morning about 10AM when the north wind finally calmed a little they finally started coming out to feed.
I really believe that I've begun to see a pattern of them not moving when a storm is moving in until it has passed. Now this thread has me doubting myself.
I think it has to do with food availability. Where I live they don't have much browse, we are over populated. They must travel more to find food or a hand out! If they have food handy they don't have to move as much. Just my $.02.
I hunted near Maxdale, Bell Co. this morning. Saw no deer driving out and sat till 845 and saw nothing. I think the wind was to much, called it quits early, will go back tomorrow.
We hunt in Childress saw the most deer all season this weekend at least 15 per sit shot a doe Saturday morning and a hog that evening it was 3 degree this morning and it snowed Saturday evening

This makes a lot of sense Falcon. We have a ton of healthy browse and tens of tons of acorns. All corn and protein has been completely untouched, it's actually pilling up.
