    Cotulla area TV question

I was trading a hunt for some labor on a place outside of Cotulla and thought that I would help the guys out by resolving a TV problem they had at camp. Originally they had a satellite dish for what mostly turned out to be weather reports but they had discontinued the service last year. They have a couple of standard antenna's, one of which is atop an old windmill tower. I thought "no problem". All I needed to do was hook them up with one of the digital converter boxes and that would do the trick for what they needed. So up the tower I went, stringing new coax etc. But when done, and to my amazement, I could not pick up any type of digital tv signal there. I've tried 2 different antennas, 2 different boxes, different coax etc and still no signal strength (according to the slide bar on box setup). Turning/tuning the antenna never moved the meter off of zero signal strength. This ranch wasn't too far from town, nor I-35 corridor.

My question --- for those around Cotulla --- except for satellite service, is there anyway to pick up a local (Laredo or San Antonio) station?

Note: cell phones work fine around the ranch. They'd just like to see some TV at times. So obtaining weather reports from cell phone browsing is not really the answer here.

I was also trying to locate them a public access point for internet access in town (air cards are not viable). I tried contacting the sheriff's dept (didn't know) and Chamber of Commerce (no reply yet). So if you have any ideas about that too. thanks!

On rare occasion I can pic up a couple of Laredo channels, but I am up on a hill. When I actually do they are hard to veiw do to static. Seems like a dish is the only way to go.
