I buy pads and rotors with lifetime warranty. I can't stand a squeal so they usually get changed about every 6 months. Not that they're worn down, but if the pads or rotors glaze over they get noisy. My wife is hard on brakes. The guys at oreillys have told me to swap them every month if I need to.

Why would a truck that new need rotors. ? My 11 yr old truck has 140k miles on it and rotors and pads are still good.

It's a flaw with fords. The stock rotors are junk. Almost everyone I know that has bought one since about 09 has had to replace the due to warping issues by the time they have about 40k miles on them.

New pads = new rotors at my house, and new brake fluid and stainless steel lines. There is something that you must do with new pads called "bedding" and if you don't do it you will never experience the true stopping potential of your pads.

If you don't remove old bedded material from old rotors by either turning them or new rotors, you will not get a pure transfer of brake material. The bedding process varies by pad and material, but should not be ignored.

And let the rotors cool for a good 30 min before using brakes or it may jeopardize the transfer process, that means on the last round of bedding you allow the vehicle enough room to come to a rolling stop on the road without touching the brakes, and be prepared to hang out there for 30 min while the material cools on the pads and rotors.

You've got 140k miles on the truck with the original brake pads? All highway driving? That's amazing.

Not uncommon at all for Chevy 1/2 tons.

Check Amazon, for a 2010 F150 AC Delco $45-$55 each for a price point. It doesn't make sense to pay $20 each to turn plus what's your time worth to go to auto parts store? Just sayin'.
