    Dogbone training system?

Has anyone used the Dogbone training system for shed antler dogs? I have read a little about it and purchased the starter kit to try with my Vizsla. Curious if anyone has any experience with this training system.

The rubber antler is good, the rest is crap. It is very generic content.

I started my Vizsla with the rubber antler at a very young age. She is very soft mouthed and had hard a hard time picking up larger antlers for a while so I had to get some smaller ones. Yesterday I had her finding and retrieving a 30" axis shed and she was carrying it fine. Took her a few seconds to figure out how to carry it.

Get real sheds to train with as well, cut offs will not work. You need the scent on the pedical. That is what you want your dog to key in on.

From there, it is basic dog training. Teaching them to find what you want them to find. There is no secret to his system.

I don't know how well his scent works, I have it, but it seems to just bead up and roll off of everything I've tried to put it on except a tennis ball. I use the orange ones with his antler scent on them from time to time because they are harder to find visually and it makers her use her nose.

This is good info. I should the starter kit in by next week so hopefully I can have my Vizsla at least ready to start finding sheds by march when the deer start to drop.

I had her out yesterday and she would turn on a dime when she got down wind of a planted antler, put some of the dogbone scent on the tennis ball and she didn't pay it any attention. Don't know if the scent broke down over time or if it doesn't smell the same.

I don't have anything that is super fresh. Most are a couple years old or older.
