I've fried turkeys the old fashioned way with peanut oil for years and we always love the result but I'm curious to try something new.
I tried a Butterball oil-less turkey fryer and it too twice as long as it always took in peanut oil. I took that back and never tried it again, not sure if it was just a bad one or not.
A few years ago I cooked a few trash can turkeys and they were just as good as the fried turkeys. They were cooked under the can with charcoal around the base and on top. It took about the same time as frying did.
I was at Bass Pro and saw a charcoal cooker that is very similar to my old trash can cooker. Has anyone ever used one? I want to buy at least one new cooker to go with the peanut oil fryer, so I can cook 2 at a time, but not sure which way to go.
How do y'all like the oil-less fryer versus the oil type and any thoughts on the charcoal cooker?
