I asked my CPA about writing off the purchase of a night vision or thermal scope for control of the hog damage on my properties, she could not find a way to justify the write off.

I think my cousin wrote his nv off but he's a full time farmer and doesn't do anything else and had huge financial loss a couple years back on milo from pig damage. I think it was a business expense for him but I didn't ask about the details specifically.

Yeah I would doubt I would be able to use tax exemption.....but I can for almost anything else for the property....AKA Ranger, chain saws, oil, food plot seed

I'd certainly try. Just get your cpa to study up on it. Personally I don't see how it could be much different than anything like that for a farm expense. Make sure the cpa understands what the use of it is and maybe they can figure out somewhere to put it. I'd venture to guess that most accountants don't really understand how a thermal might differ from other gun related things. It's at least worth looking into.

              I am inching closer......I used a MK3, REAP IR, Pulsar XD38, and a GEN3 NV.

I am definitely not getting a NV and just want one gun mounted thermal that I can use a QD mount with.

I have a .300 BLK that I will be mounting it on.

I am waiting to see the Pulsar XP50 looks like, but I think its between that or the REAP IR. The Mark3 has too much zoom for scanning and such when on the CR's. For shooting its nice, but I want an all around gun to scan and shoot with.

Sounds like you want a Reap. Shoot me a pm with your cell and I'll text you some video through mine. It's incredible and the mount is pretty simple to get on and off. 12 degree field of view on the reap is fine for scanning. I'm going to make it my dedicated scanner when my Trail XP50 comes in. Only reason for that is I use my scanner ten times as much as the riflescope and I want the onboard recording on the gun.

Yes I bought a REAP. Got a good deal at $6950 out the door.

I just hate all the recording crap.

I do agree now about the scanner, but I can't afford to buy one now. A couple buddies in my group have extras that we use so I can hold off for now.

I was close to buying the XP50 for a good price, but man I didn't wanna wait lol. I love the on board recording it has and battery pack. That is a huge plus

With that budget I'd get a thermal monocular and a thermal scope. There's a bunch of stuff coming out in May. I'd wait.

Little too late lol. But I am excited to see the Trail XP50. A buddy pre ordered it.
