Google Chrome Laptop/Tablet Questions

My daughter, who is 14 and starting high school in the fall, wants / needs a Google chrome laptop or tablet. Any suggestions on a good value, something that might get her through the next 4 years? She's been using Google Chrome for the past few years in middle school and is familiar with it.

Not quite sure our high school would not let students purchase there own. Had to use the schools chromebook. Guessing it had something to do with security and monitoring what they are able to get on at the school and home.
