    Rifle ID help needed

    Anyone know what rifle this is. Looks old and military to me

    Looks like a 8 mm Mouser.

      That's what I was thinking but can't find any markings. Need to take stock off but don't want to damage it

        Some type of Mauser. Not a K98, it doesn't have the thumb cut for stripper clips. Maybe a Turk or a Yugo.

          Never seen a Mauser without markings, especially on the ring at the front of the action. Maybe they were ground off.

              I would almost certainly say WWII Japanese Arisaka 99

              If it is, I believe it's a 7.7x58

                    I agree with the arisaka, I think it would've of been a practice rifle if it has the markings ground off

                      They were ground off after they were defeated captured rifles had them still

                        Ding, ding, ding, Winner. Could either be a 6.5 mm or a 7.7 but I'm not familiar enough with them to say, although I have a 7.7 in the safe my wife's dad brought back. It has the chrysanthemum on it.

                            found this on the end of the bolt thought it was just a crummy repair attempt but now i'm not sure
