Thanks guys! Hunted hard all year, wherever I happened to be...the bucks were not. I went and sat in the stand with my wife, brother and munchkins with the main objective of letting them look at the deer. It's a super close set up, maybe 60 yards to the feeder. Cedars all around and you can see for miles as it's on the top of a bluff. We watched 2 small bucks come to the feeder about 440. Feeder went off at 5 same bucks hung around. Watched 3 big auodad come down the valley across the creek and up to the feeder as the two young bucks scattered. Rams state around for a while then stepped off into the brush back towards the creek. Looked over to my left about 10 minutes before running out of shooting light and about 150 yards down the road stood a die turned facing me. We were all a little venison hungry so I decided what the heck, lets put some meat in the freezer. As she stepped to turn broadside I released the safety. I settled the cross hairs behind the shoulder and in the background stepped out ol big boy. Perfectly broadside, right on the road, 150 yards from the stand. I squeezed the trigger and he didn't make another step. The shakes started and the kids absolutely loved it. What an experience.
Thanks guys, im going to score him as soon as I get out of the stand this morning. I kinda rough scored him last night and I'm thinking he will break 150 with all that mass. Either way, im happy. Heck of buck.
That mass is something you have to see to believe. You don't see many central Texas bucks killed with that kind of mass. It's like from the ears up, he's from Iowa lol.
