Sometimes I get caught up in the trap of "I gotta get a limit of ducks to successful", "it wasn't a good hunt unless I saw some big bucks", "I didn't do well if I didn't catch a 5 lb bass". Do you?
I brought my 12 year old nephew on his first duck this morning. We didn't see all that many ducks at all. I was kind of disappointed we weren't "successful". He only got to fire one shot but he made it count. We shared a lot of laughs and made fun of each other all morning. I almost fell face first in the water stepping out of the blind. He couldn't stop laughing. It was a nasty sloppy muddy 1 mile ride in so I let him drive us back to the truck. He almost ran us off into a ditch and slammed his Dads head into the windshield. We couldn't stop laughing again. He reminded me it's not about how many we can shoot or how big of one we can catch or kill. It's about enjoying what God has created and making memories with friends and family. I bet those are the things he will remember most.

Just thought I'd share something I forget to remember from time to time!
