    Coyotes attacking fawn

My blood pressure has had its daily spike early this morning. I got to work around daylight to find 4 coyotes had cornered a fawn in a pond right by one of my facilities. She would try to escape and they would herd her back into the water. I sat and watched for a few minutes until I couldn't take it anymore. I felt so bad for that fawn that I grabbed an axe handle and a machete and waded in the fight. The strange part is these yotes let me get within 25 yards of them before they would shy away. I literally thought I was going to get some axe handle action. They never ran off, they would just circle around a bush and eyeball me. I started chunking rocks and bounced one close enough to get them moving and kept after them. The fawn has come out of the water but she's bedded down breathing heavily. I don't know if she will make it or not but I gave her a chance.

I know nature has to take its course but I couldn't sit and watch with the odds stacked that way. Anyone seen anything like this? It was pretty cool, I doubt I'll ever forget it

I would've done the same thing, after all were predators too and that fawn could potentially be a fat mature doe one day you can harvest a lot of meat with ....so to hell with them yotes, I would've pulled out the rifle and dropped them all, I hate them *******s, they've killed several of my chickens this year, so no sympathy for them

I would have let the yotes eat.

          Lead?

In all seriousness, it was kind of a weird feeling.

Never seen anything like that. One of my buddies watched a momma antelope stomp a coyote to death and chase another in a culvert because they were after her little one though.

I've had them act like that before when a cow was birthing. They just stood there as I got out of the truck and rested my rifle. Two got a lead injection and the third decided that calf wasn't worth it.

I can't carry a rifle or pistol at work or I would have been slingin some hot lead. Coyotes are the cockroaches of the animal world in my mind. We can try as hard as we want to get rid of them but they are survivors. I'm not too worried about them going hungry around here.

i might have shot, but drawing blood from 25 yds with a pistol? doubtful.

Body shot at 25 yards with a handgun should be pretty high percentage.
