My knife shop is behind the house roughly 100 feet, every great once in a while if conditions are right and the big door is open my phone will show connected to wifi. It's never strong enough to work. That said do the range extenders work? The shop is metal. I'd like to get the internet out there to order stuff as needed and hook up to my heat treat oven controller.

In for the same question. I would like to boost signal from the garage and into my metal building. Fine if the door has to be open, may add a second booster to fill the shop. Do they make a booster with an external antenna I could mount on the ship corner and run a line inside to the repeater/booster?

Oh sorry I got confused. Never heard of Hitron. If you get a high quality router you may be able to avoid having to get an extender. Generally speaking, extenders suck and slow down network traffic.
You could get a good router used on eBay for $100 or so.

It doesn't have to be a different login if you have the right equipment. For example, the Apple AirPort Extreme works as a base station and the Apple Airport Express works as an extender. I have seen this applied in a 5700 sq foot house with 3 floors and it worked well.

[QUOTE=yaqui;11988290]Can you run an ethernet cable from the house to the shop and add a router in the shop? We did that for my pop. Now he has to check Craigslist every 10 minutes,[/QUOTE
The way the drive way and everything is would be a major pain.
