Corbels don't really fit all looks. Me personally concrete is more of a contemporary or rustic so corbels don't really fit especially with a 6" overhang. I personally think you could get away with 6" without additional support with a good adhesive like above or a good silicone. If you really want additional support you can notch your sheet rock at two studs with a steel angle secured to the stud and just float over it with mud and tape and not have to pull the top.
    Good job on the DIY!

We use goop marine bond from academy to glue down counter tops.

The corbels I found were too big. There is only a 3 inch overhang on each side. I like the bracket idea, unfortunately this project has to be finished by this weekend (x mas party) and I don't think they will get here in time if I order them online.

With only 3" on each side, Liquid Nails will hold it just fine.

Don't be stingy when you put it on.

Agreed then trim underneath at the wall with a nice molding.

You better get to mixing then, son! Looks like the counter is about 1/4" or so too short anyway. Cant tell if that is just shadow? If not, your warden is less strict than mine. She would have me do the entire thing over rather than simply removing the brackets. She is woman, I hear her roar! Kidding, it looks good. If the counter is indeed a tad bit too short, for some honest criticism, address the gap now before you bond with adhesive--if not, you are going to see it every time you walk by. That loctite 8X is some great adhesive. Will look great with brackets removed!
