While I agree with you, there are LOTS of scenarios where a "bad duck" can be "accidentally" shot. Usually in our case I tell the kids for their 1st ducks of the day to shoot whatever presents the easiest shot for them (as long as it's not in the early portion where Mottled are off limits) and then as they approach the limit on something I'll start calling shots for them. Now that they're getting older it's less of a problem. Then you have the two ducks with one shot thing... which my Middle kid has some strange uncanny knack for accomplishing at least once per season. Of course you have your group of 5 Widgeon rolling in with 200 Pintail and it can be a pita to pick those Widgeon out of all those birds.

      wink, wink...

It's not waste of you take it and use it? Never heard of any wardens getting into people for using birds to train, is this a real issue?

Lots of things wrong with this quote. And to answer your question, no I've never had that happen and am 100% confident it has never happened. Ever. To anyone.

I get it with taking others, eh maybe. I guess if you're away doing something else.

              Yes sir it is.
You can breast them out, fill with foam then wrap them in duct tape and use for training birds, but migratory game birds must be cleaned for consumption or you can be written a ticket for it.

Now, birds that are raised for training that have one of their "dew" claws removed or their nasal passages punctured, that's a different story. That's what their raised for.

Place on a cedar shingle covered in fresh cow manure and bake for 1 hour at 350 or until manure is dry and cracking. Peel off manure and duck and eat the shingle. Throw the rest in the trash.

I love that people just wake up being excellent duck hunters with a perfect duck ID.

I had to learn(still learning to ID ducks). Its not like Whooping Cranes are accidentally being shot.

For those who don't like diving ducks, red heads are my number 2 favorite to eat, just behind pintails.

A lot has to do with overcooking too. I do soak mine too though. Let's ask Trash2 how he cooks them.

As for me I make all my ducks and geese into different types of sausage except for some teal as I prefer them to any other duck for cooking. They all taste good in a sausage.
So you're saying you like duck sausage?

I am going to have to try that. The duck/goose in the sausage that is...
