    Another Rage thread,Not so great

Well after hearing all the good things about the rage, I decided I would try them out. So tonight, I went out to try them out on some hogs befor I shot a deer with them. First shot only one bade opened, Second arrow open in midflight missing the pig by a mile. Third shot I shot a small pig (30lbs) and did not get a pass thru.Just my 2 cents. I will be going back to the G5s.

    weird...

I'm not doubting these stories at all, but I have shot three pigs around 100 lbs with rages this year, and every single shot was a pass through.

I didnt think it was right either, but it is true. I did find the two I hit but you could tell on the first one that only one blade opened, the third one both blades opened but did not pass thru this one was 40 yards.

If you can, list your equipment and speed of your bow with arrow weight so we can determine the K.E. and see if that might have anything in common with other failures we've heard about.

            Sorry for the graphic picture.

Here is a picture of a shot in the South End of a North Bound coyote. This was last Monday afternoon. He was 22 yards...Mods, feel free to delete this picture if it is too graphic. Thanks

Kind of wandering about your equipment as well, I shoot spitfire 100gr & have never had anything run further than 60 yd. all blades always open on contact , not in flight.

                  Guessing around 60 lbs K.E.
Assuming good arrow flight,(straight), this is a mystery.
The Rage 3 blade should have had NO problems.

I have killed dozens of animals with them and many of them were different species just check out the video section on this site for many of my videos. The only problem I have had with them is on buffalo with a winter coat. they had poor penetration going in about 4-5 inches with 4 arrows behind the shoulder, then muzzy made a pass thru.

I experimented with them out to 80 yards at 10 yard intervals with the O-ring gone so the blades opened in flight on some of them. Most hit close to the point of aim. I never had any zing off in the bushes. Even when I did not get a pass thru they usually did not go far. 40 yards is not bad.

Opps thought it went 40 yards. Where did you hit the animal?

Not trying to down talk the rage, but this is exactly why i nor alot of people even take the chance. Their are too many threads like this one on this forum and more. The low profile fixed blade heads fly plenty straight and you never have to worry about if it's going to open or not. I shoot G5 strikers and love them, plenty of cutting diameter to open the animal up and sharp as a scapel but hits like a brick. Again not bashing the rage as i have never shot them, but these stories are enough for me to stear clear.
