Learn something new every day. I used to run 285/75 on a truck with 16s but all my trucks with 17s have been the 285/70s. Figured they just tweaked the aspect ratio to keep the height the same and didn't bother with a 75 on 17s. May have to look into these on my next set of tires.

Just for comparison, I had an 05 Chevy CC z71 and had just the torsion bars leveled with 285/70/17s. If I remember right, I had some more clearance if I wanted something a little bigger so if you ago with the 2"/2.5" like you are saying, I don't see you having issues with the 285/75s. You might could possibly fit a 35" equivalent but being an SUV instead of truck I don't know if there is any difference in stock ride height that might make a difference after the lift

thanks, I don't want to go too big, I want to stay around the $200/tire price point so will most likely end up with a 285/70 for the price, but I I am trying to talk myself into the 75s.

Good luck! Ever since I went to a truck with 17s I haven't been happy wth the tire bill. Think one time back in 2009 or 2010 I got some 285/70/17 Hankook MTs for $800-900. But I got the buddy deal on those. Cooper STMaxxs were $1200 I think, two sets of Goodyear DuraTrac were pushing $1500 and I did get some Toyo A/Ts for $1100 back in 2014. Used to be no problem finding a set of tires under $1000 when I had a truck with 16s but that too was 2008 and prior. But I know there for a while tire prices have been pretty stiff in recent years from China's rubber hoarding, or so I was told that was the reason.

I am running 285/75 R16s on my Z71 with no problems. Paid $170 per tire for Cooper Discoverer ATPs at Discount Tire with mileage warranty and road hazard warranty. They've been good tires. I wish they were a little more aggressive, but that's on me for choosing ATs over MTs.

I've got 285/75 17s on my ride, but it's a 6 wheeler. I did some slight modification to the back of the fender to keep it from rubbing. It's leveled too.

Falken Wild Peak 285/75/17 are about $200. I run the old style wild peak and love them. Can still find them on simple tire in a 295/70/17 for also around $200. Cooper also in that range. I love my falkens. Will be going with 315/70/17 wild peak this spring.
