Is the ranch accessable by pickup?I don't have a 4 wheeler and don't want to have to walk for miles.Does the ranch have a web site?

Yes, need to know if a truck will work please. This sounds like a great hunt for me to take the 11 year old on his first bow hunt.

In answer to your questions. We have 22 deposits in as of today and I've heard about severlal more on the way. Bottom line is not in danger of filling up right away, but I wouldn't wait too long.

There are good roads that are accessible with 2WD trucks through most of the ranch. At the very least you can get to the bunkhouse. If we get heavy rains, then there are some areas I wouldn't want to go to without
4WD, but there should be enough people there with all wheel that we could get anyone out in a pinch. Of course there are some places that if it's really muddy I wouldn't go even with 4WD, but we really haven't had a problem in the past.

JLM I hope you can make it. Already know of at least one other boy of about the same age. As a father of four, I like to see people have a chance to hunt with their kids without it costing them a bunch of money. Pete Denney (the landowner) has been a super guy in letting us bring the kids

Tomme - Let me know if you think you might need a few extra guides. Me and the other guy coming with me would be more than welcome to help out if need be.

            Let me know.

Can I pay my deposit with a CC or do I need to send a check?

How big is the ranch and is there a cooler nearby in case we kill a hog on Friday? Also are the hunting areas sorted out in advance? I imagine so as 55 hunters heading out on Saturday morning could get a little hairy.

Brandon we'll take any help we can get.

DJM we can get you in touch with the LSBA treasurer if you want to pay by CC. As hunt committee chair I'm only handling checks.

Justlemein the ranch is almost 13,000 acres across four pastures. They have like 50 feeders and also a corn route that's over 3 miles long. We decided a couple of years ago that we would draw for feeders so that no one, not even the hunt committee, got an advantage of being thier early. We would also allow people to switch after the first night if they wanted to. The corn route was pretty well left open to whoever wanted to hunt it, with the general agreement that where it went close to a feeder you wouldn't set up. This has tended to work out pretty well most of the time We also tend to put fathers on same feeder with their kid(s) or at lleast in the same vicinity).

One thing that has gone underutlilized in my view is people hunting late at night (full moon) either on there feeder or on the corn route. These hogs are smart and won't just stand on the road waiting for you to drive up to them, but they can be taken with a spot and stalk. Ask me about the big boy I missed with my recurve at 12:30 last year.

Tomme, I didn't get to do any night hunting in 2004 because of the weather but I plan to get after them after dark this year.

I did my first spot and stalk in Cotulla coutesy of Ronnie Satterfield back in April and took my first hog during that hunt. I'm pumped about getting after them again. See you there.

Sounds good all the way around. We also have the concrete pig trophy contest for anyone who thinks they can bring one in with Trad gear, and I think that Biggen is setting up the balloon shoot so don't forget to site in your 100 yard pin.
