The best way to know is have the front tooth tested. From the wear she's 8 1/2 or more. Good kill because she most likely would have starved to death before next season.

They cut a thin section out of the tooth, stain it, and count the "growth rings" -- similar to aging a fish via their scales or a tree by its growth rings.
