I second the question on POA. What are you shooting at? If you, even slightly "chase" your previous impacts, even the .1Mil or 1/8MOA resolution of your scope can cause you to chain almost 3/4" at 300 yards over 3 shots.

During load development, I put a quality stick on target dot (with vertical and horizontal crosshairs) and level it with a bubble level when I apply to my target board. Then dial my scope to set the POI an inch or more low, so that I never shoot out my POA. If you shoot out your POA, your group will open up.
No level I have been eyeballing the vert horz crosshairs only to level.
Shooting at a dime sized dot.
I am getting groups like this while laying prone or shooting in a lead sled.

I have shot other groups of 4 and they group like this as well 2 close to touching or touching and then a decent space then the next 2 touching or almost touching. All shots in the groups are sub moa some have been sub 1/2 moa so its not like its an open crappy spread but I want as close to one big hole as I can get.

Are you coming off the gun at all during your string of fire? Ive found that if my cheek and shoulder come off the stock at all during a string, I tend to have a group from each shooting position.

I suppose I probably do come off the rifle.

Here are a couple more pics. Different days different distances and different conditions. Seems like the groups of 2 in the string of total shots for the groups of 4 or 5.

What's the wind drift at 300yds for your load? Even 1-2" of unaccounted for wind would bring those groups right together. A 10 mph cross wind at 300yds would probably give you +/- 4-5" of horizontal impact. Reading wind is no joke its usually what makes or breaks a shooter. Vertical dispersion is usually from poor load development or recoil management.

It has the groups of 2 within the string of shots no matter if there is wind or not.

For 300 yards you are still shooting sub MOA groups.
Where did your first shot go is what I would be concerned about at extended ranges.

There's your problem... I've seen thinner barrels show change in impact after 3... well almost always after 1(cold bore) then more change after that

If you want to really really be sure leave bolt open and wait at LEAST 1 min between shots

Its a pretty heavy barrel 1.25-1.5" diameter.

6 shots would still heat it up... but 3 kinda surprises me in a heavy barrel... hmmm
