best parka/coat for Michigan in Jan-Feb

Will be having to go up there often for work throughout the winter. What would be a good affordable coat/parka for their weather? I only have light wind breakers for here. I have a few camo coats that may work but would rather not wear them and then have to worry about making them scent free later.

I'm mostly going to be going from airport-car-hotel-office. No work outside but need something for going from building to car to another building and maybe even something I can wear to walk a block or two to go eat. Something that I won't freeze in while scraping snow/ice off the windshield would be nice as well.

Hoping to stay under $200 as well. Found this one on Duluth that looks good and with the 30% off and free shipping price isn't too bad.

Yea I was thinking Carhart as well. Just haven't seen my size in a price range that I like. I'll be in East Lansing/Okemos. Staying right next to MSU campus and working in Okemos.

What size? Need at least XXL and prefer ***L since we're talking outer wear.

Yea I'm going to stay on the cheaper side since it's only this year that I'll have to be up there. By next winter, I'll be at a different client. Plus the one from Duluth looks pretty good and the wife likes the look of it. With discount and free shipping, I can get it for $146 shipped to my house.

I can also get a Carhartt for around the same price.

Thanks for the suggestion though. Any others? Looking at the forecasts coming up waterproof is definitely needed!

Something with a waterproof shell. I went in an elk hunt and it snowed heavy for 4 days. We all got soaked and just about froze to death from the snow melting on us all day.

Yea I won't be out as long as you were for that to happen but waterproof shell is a must. Just looking at the next 10 days forecast is calling for rain most days. I'm going to go ahead and order the one from Duluth. It meets all my requirements and with the 30% off and free shipping I can have it at my door for under 150.

Will order in black and hopefully it's quiet enough to use it here in Jan-Feb for some night hog hunts with the AR.

Find you one of these at an army surplus store or order one. Works great for that area.
Ever watch the Army/Navy game when it is cold and snowy? There is a reason they wear these.

I grew up in Michigan and the secret to keeping warm is to layer your clothing. You'd be surprised at how light of jacket you can get by with when you're wearing Under Armour, and polar fleece under ran gear. If you're going to be outdoors for extended periods, make sure to wear polypropylene socks under wool socks also. When your feet get cold, the rest of you will get cold regardless of how much you're wearing. You're going to be surprised at how little outerwear you'll need if you're wearing a layer of warm undergarments.
You can get buy with spending a lot less money that way too!
