    Moultrie Feeder Problem

Didn't throw this afternoon and it looks like it hasn't thrown in a number of days. Checked it this evening and it has 75% battery life. I set it to throw while I was there. Set it for 1 second, didn't throw, set it again for 3 seconds, it threw, but I don't think it threw outside of the feeder legs, very week.

Is it the motor going out? The plate spins freely with your hand.

    Any help or ideas?

Make sure the spinner plate is tight on motor shaft. If not it will just spin inside the spinner plate and appear to be spinning weak.

Try a new battery or batteries. Those indicators are not always accurate.

One second is hardly enough to get it started, 3-4 min new battery just for confidence factor.

I'm sure Roger meant 3-4 seconds at a minimum - not 3-4 minutes!

I have that same unit and love it. I've had mine in continuous operation for 4 years. Like kruppa said, check the spinner plate.

I had 2 of that model moultrie and had similar problem with both returned one to Cabelas in Allen and switched for another after 2 weeks had same thing with the replacement one contacted moultrie they thought battery was to blame, I tried 2 other batteries (new ones) same results extremely weak or no spin. I never could get reliability from it. Batteries seemed to work fine in my older moultrie timers but not in this style timer.
Hope you can get it solved, if you get it fixed post your solution for us.

I got a used Moultrie that gave me fits. Changed the battery multiple times, swapped the motor and eventually replaced with another entire unit. The "bad" motor I pulled will spin just fine when direct wired to any of the 3 batteries I pulled out of there that showed low charge.
On the new unit, I'm on my 2nd battery. I guess something about the moultrie electronics just wants a full battery.

Yep same issue. Have a full battery. That's what cured mine.

Forget the battery life reading. I had two showing 75% and neither would throw corn. I put in new batteries and they are both strong throwers again. Your best bet on battery life is to take a voltage reading with a VOM. Once the voltage starts dropping to around 6 volts it is time to charge or replace the battery. A freshly charged battery checks about 6.4 volts on my meter.

All it needed was two new batteries. Had put one new battery in back in the end of September, should've put two new.

                        Thanks for the help.

I have a bunch of these ... change battery. 75 means dead battery in moultrie talk.

Weak battery in moultrie terms is anything less than 85%. Went through a similar issue where the spin was weak (80%) throwing close to the legs and replaced the battery with 100% and that thing almost took my eye out!
