    280 bullets in a 284

Can you shoot a 280 bullet in a 284 rifle

For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than to Google it for themselves.

Hope that helps as there seems to be discussion on some forums.

The bullet is the same. Both .284 or 7mm. Not the case though, they are different. .284 Win can't be used in .280 R.E.M. Or vice versa.

Bullets are the same (projectile). Cartridges or loaded ammo will be different.

i.e. - 6.5x55 and the .260 Remington shoot the same diameter bullet but are 2 different cartridges

Determining the difference between cartridges/calibers is neither easy or hard but it can confuse many. There isn't anything written in stone on designations, some go American decimal equivalents while others are metric while others are a name or even a number.

Some cartridges can be shot interchangeably (same cartridge/caliber but a different name or handgun cartridges of different lengths ie .44 special/44 Mag)while most cannot. With that said the mighty .44 Rem Mag shoots a bullet that is .429" in diameter. A 38 Special shoots a .357" bullet.

Might want to take a hunter's Ed, NRA Rifle/handgun/gun safety or reloading class in your area. Some of these courses will get into the above.
