Good grief, that sounds like the offspring of a crackhead and a methhead, bet that dog can scale a wall or bounces off it like a pinball!

        Prolly.

Just curious if they are out there.
I'm looking for the coloration of a gsp but the scent trailing of the lacy.

Shurthairs of good stock will trail just fine. Look for kurzhaar, which are gsp's of traced German lineage and testing.they are required to track in order to breed. If you will train tracking prior to upland work, it should work well

I have a Drahthaar that I have been training since he was 8 weeks old. He is now 5.5 months old and has tracked several animals.

Gsps seem to have good noses. They got to be able to point. I know mine has a heck of a nose. Im working him on some blood trails a littke bit. He did good the first time he did it till he came up on the deer....he booger barked at it till i went and squatted next to it lol

Draths have the greatest drive I've ever seen. Have two 6 mo. Old puppies up in the snow in New Mexico this week. They can track a small leather glove 500 yards or more. I know a breeder with on young male for sale and or little older female.

No joke! Thats what I was thinking! Our 18 week old GSP is as smart and hard headed as they come... when he goes into his "psycho mode" the only thing to do is let him out the back door to run it off! I once saw him jump from 5 feet away from the couch, go over the top, bounce off the wall and onto the love seat...

                      Thanks for the info Randy.
I'll look into those breeds of gsp.

Why in the world would you mix 2 outstanding breeds that are great just how they are. Leave them pure bred.

Breed a dog to a dog not a breed to a breed.
Crosses can make awesome dogs , but doing your homework you will find a pure bred dog that will be what you want. Just about any dog has the nose to track.

Agreed. And my gsp has an amazing nose on her anyway. Not only that if she was any more hyper, I would shoot myself

Those are two deer she found. The doe was my goddaughters first deer and we had no blood whatsoever. Gumbo walked right up to it 150 yards away. The other we already knew where it was, just wanted her to work the trail. It was only 40 or so yards but she worked it perfectly. This is without any training at all. All on instinct.

                              Thanks for the info.

I got a doe hide in the freezer and will try to find some blood for trailing.

Now I just need a pup.
