Inner axle seal is leaking on my 99 F350. Just made it to Georgia and noticed the ball joints were coated with Diff Fluid and found the dust seal broke off. I replaced the hubs, ball joints 2 yrs ago so after researching I found the problem.

What can I do? I'm a DIY so is it something I can knock out while here in GA before I head back Sunday or do I just keep an eye on fluid levels and repair when I get home?

    DIY Cost?
    Have it repaired Cost?

Called a couple dealerships, mechanics here and all were closed until Friday.

    Thanks!

I just did the inner axle seals on my 80 series Toyota Land Cruiser - Different truck, but still a solid front axle. Its a messy job, but didnt require any special tools. I think it runs about $500 at the dealer. The seals were cheap.

    I paid $20 for seals
a few rolls of paper towels
towels that you wont mind trashing.
If you rebuilt your hubs recently then you probably dont need anything other than seals, gear oil, and some grease.

Im sure you wont have a problem getting home. just top off your gear oil in the diff before you leave. I doubt the seals had a catastrphic failure. They are probably just worn and leaking.

Noticed a leak on the Rear Diff as well. Never has leaked until now. Joy joy... Something always happens out of state!

I'd just keep it full till I got home. Always easier to fix at home.

Top that thing off and come onto the house.

You'll have to remove the gears to replace the inner seals. Like everyone else says......do it at home.
