    Another lease story

We lease 120 acres in Arkansas and have for the last 25 years. The lease had been partially clear cut. We were told by the owner in Indiana that they wouldn't finish the clear cutting of the rest of the property until after the first of the year.

My BIL got a call from an adjacent landowner who he has know forever that the forestry company was asking for permission to come across his property next week. My BIL called the landowner and he said yes, he had told them to go ahead and cut it next week.

We don't pay much for the lease, and I probably already got my money's worth this year out of it, but it is just to show you that you can't take anyone's word for anything anymore.

The landowner also said that the land was going up for auction in 2018. We had already suspected that he was going to sell it in the future. I'm just ticked that they are going to cut all that hardwood along with the pine and not even sell it, if they did like they did the last time.

Leasing hunting land is risky and money talks, sorry to hear your losing lease after 25 years.
