Any Camera Gurus on the green screen?

I have a Sony A57 with a 55-200mm lens that I have been trying to video hunts on using a tripod and I can't get the camera to focus on anything past about 40 yards and I have been through every setting twice and I can't figure it out. The camera is like new and the lenses and camera have always been stored in a pelican case. Any ideas?
