Anybody ever tried to use one for a decoy during the rut? I've never tried to use any sort of deer decoy but got to thinking that maybe I could remove the horns from my glendale buck and use a little doe estrous to draw in a buck. I am heading up an hour north of Abilene next week and thought about giving it a try. I've been told the timing of the rut up there will be good. Maybe I just watch to many hunting shows...anybody think this would work or just spook mature bucks?

3D deer target as a decoy?
I did this last year, it was an old decoy that had one front leg and one back leg and was pale as can be. Had a bunch of does come in for corn and once they saw it they left as fast as the could trying to get away from whatever disease the decoy had!!

I had a shot out 3d target I patched with spray foam and hollowed out the insides to make it as light as possible.1st time i took it out 9:30 am after a morning hunt I packed to an area that I thought would hold some bucks.Set it out about 40 yrds away facing me and hit rattling horns for a few seconds.I could hear a deer walking in the leaves along a creek bank coming from a direction I didnt want. He was going to wind me about the same time he was going to be in the opening to spot the decoy. He came out down wind and spotted the decoy and just circled between me and the decoy just stairing at it for almost a full minute.Would have been a 20 yrd shot. He was a mature 8 with a swollen neck, big body and wouldnt make 13'' spread. Set up worked great and
and was mesmurized by the decoy paying no attention to my scent trail that I know hit him when he came out. Rattling works great away from stands and feeders in remote areas.Decoy will help position the deer to get a bow shot. Hard to do with out decoy they usually come in looking cant find anything and leave or haul butt after they git downwind.
