The conversion may be complete :D

Following is an e-mail string between myself, Bowhuntertex and the Convert.....

    ME
I saw that same buck again this morning, the one that I hit with the truck the other morning. It was light out when I left this AM and now I know why I didn't see him until last second when I hit him. He is melanistic. I thought that was pretty neat!

    Julie
If I can't shoot the melanistic doe in my backyard off the balcony, I wanna get a melanistic buck at your place, even if it's with my car!

Hence we have proven that Convert is your perfect handle

    Bowhuntertex
This email is worthless with out pics

Do you think he is young deer? I saw a melanistic doe in the same area for about 2-3 years in a row, but haven't seen her in about 3 years.

    ME
Honestly, no! I think he is at least a 4.5 year old deer. His body was heavy and he had a thick neck for a hill country deer, almost merged to the brisket. I couldn't tell it by the antlers though. He has that distinct spindly basket rack that all melanistics do....... Maybe 105".

    Julie
Sounds perfect for my first buck!

I guess this means I have to practice with the bow. Steve, since you
didn't give me a target for the apartment, what am I supposed to
    practice with, the melanistic doe?

    I'm loving it!

    Steve

Julie, I have a target in the yard (your choice of dots or deer) and we're cooking fresh liver and onions on Friday. I think you'll love it, it taste just like chicken.

          Congratulations on the paradigm shift.

I think this what they mean when they say
"After the first taste of blood they are never the same"
