I know we have had some heated debates on this topic, but I recently received an email from LSBA identifying numerous individuals at TPWD to contact and voice converns. I emailed the ones that were on the list that had email addresses listed. I received the following response from one.
Detective,
Thanks for your note. I appreciate very much your taking the time to share your perspective on this issue. As you might imagine, following our recent Commission meeting, I have heard from many, many bowhunters who have expressed concerns about the idea of opening up the month of October for a youth rifle season. I understand the concerns fully and when the Commission meets again in January, we will make sure they are aware of the sentiments of Texas bowhunters about this concept.
I appreciate your making sure that you are taking your boys out to hunt. As you well know, that is the best way to initiate kids into the out of doors, and it sounds like you are a very good example of that. Thank you.
On another note, I just want to acknowledge all of the support our game wardens received from the Wharton and Wharton County law enforcement community during the recent murder trial. We lost a fine officer in Justin Hurst. The remarkable support displayed by fellow law enforcement officers was most appreciated by everyone inside out agency.
Thanks for taking the time to write.
Best,
C. Smith

At least Mr Smith took the time to give me a response that was not a blanket response letter. Maybe they will listen to us if we all voice our concerns.
