I've run a mule diesel for many years had good reliability out of it.
It's fairly slow on open road areas.
I've got family members who have kubota and have good luck with them also
They're kubota has a better speed on open road areas.
When I bought mine the mule was better on price
Both have better point depends on your budget and what all you want it to do
Also consider your service are both dealer brands close to your location
We've run Mule's and Ranger's at the ranch in Sonora. The Rangers consistently had issues and were in the shop. The mule's have been extremely reliable. We just retired the oldest at 11 years. It was beat to heck and was starting to have a few issues. We currently have 3 mules down there, the oldest being about 7 years old. We've had 3 Rangers in the past 5 years and they've all been sold/traded in. Each one wen't back in the shop after the first deer season, one had a consistent issue with overheating and was traded after multiple trips to the shop, the other was constantly draining the battery. Neither could be figured out after multiple trips to different shops. Maybe we got a bad run of them but we'll never own another for use down there.
With the choice you are wanting information on, both are extremely dependable. The Mule Pro FX is faster than the Kubota. After having a Mule 3010 for 10 years with never 1 trip to the shop I went with another Mule. I like the Rangers but to many friends with them complain about problems. Got a neighbor with a Can AM Commander that has trouble with the keys, it wont run with the performance key, only the normal that keeps the speed under 45mph. This machine has been in the shop more than its been home. He is looking to dump that and get a Mule.
'09 Honda big red. No problems or complaints. Use it for farm use and hunting. Never really played in the mud with it. If your looking at only Kubota or Kawasaki, I'd go with the Kubota!
Sold my 2015 ranger crew and bought mule fxt. Looked at the can am and was pretty interested in it but decided the mule for reliability. It's definitely built stouter than the ranger. Ranger has better storage options under the seat but otherwise I like the mule better so far. I didn't have any trouble with the ranger but I also don't run them all that rough.
I just bought a Mule Pro FXT, I have not got it dirty yet but I am really liking it so far, I have always had Mules, my last was a Tyrex, it was a great machine too buy was just too loud for me.
