My Lucy didn't wake this morning

At almost 4, she was still a pup. My dad has been needing a buddy and he has had her for most of 2 years now. But she was still my pup.

Since I got her, I knew she would be special

    And spoiled

From the beginning she earned her keep

First retrieve on her first hunt was the first bird of the '13 season. She was 8 months old
From that day on, I didn't retrieve any birds myself

Deer tracking? She was a natural

    My protector

Always looking out. She saw me drinking and decided to drive me home lol

She was my best bud and got the best of everything I could give her

I'm too far away to go see her. Dad already buried her. He says she has no injuries. She was laying in her favorite spot by his front door. No signs of a struggle. She was in the same position she was in every morning. No idea what happened. And no way for me to get home.

I'm sorry I want there for you baby girl. But she knows I loved her like a child

Dang, sorry to hear that. I lost my female lab of 13 years about 6 months ago. It was like loosing a family member.

Oh Man. I welled up reading this. I am so sorry. There isn't a bond stronger than that between a human and their bird dog. My pup is 8...can't even think of the day. Take comfort in the memories and times you had with her and know she is hunting 24/7 upstairs.
