Axis deer in the Austin area??

My co-worker was fishing on Lake Travis around the Spicewood Springs area and claims he saw several axis deer on the shore areas. Can anyone confirm this? I didn't think that they were this close to Austin. Thx

Back when the Spicewood brush fire was burning a bunch of animals on a HF got cornered & the fence was cut to save the animals. There's even a couple elk roaming the river.

Yes. My parents live in San Marcos. Seen em in the fields before, and a few dead on the roadsides of Ranch Rd 12. Not that far from Austin.
