Take those caught crossing the border and send them to work camps to earn their passage back home. Sheriff Joe can run these camps building the wall out of rock found all along the border. If they spend a few months working for sheriff Joe they will think twice the next time they get to the border. Choice #1 enter legally with work permit or choice #2 take a chance on spending more months in the camp without making money to send home. Enforce the laws and enforce the e-verify program while cutting off all welfare.

I agree with the wall and the business penalties for hiring illegals, but it cant stop there, we have thousands of Asians and Middle Eastern folks that fly in and then "get lost".......

Enforce our laws with US Employers and there will not be anybody coming over here looking for a job. We wouldn't have to worry about what the other countries' governments do.

Then the border patrol could focus on the few folks coming across. They would not be coming over for a job and would likely be bad folks. Either drug runners or some other thug wanting to cause us harm. They could be dealt with more harshly when you don't have to worry that it is just someone coming over here trying to get a job.

They come here for other things to. To have their baby so it's instantly an American plus it's free to have the baby here. Then they all get free healthcare, free food, probably housing.

Getting back to the 'symptoms' comment, nobody ever brings up the real cause of the problem. Things are so jacked up in Mexico that a significant portion of the population wants to get out. That's what needs to get fixed. Too many people don't have a prayer at having even a meager lifestyle. Why? That country should have pretty much the same resources as the U.S. Why is it easier to get get by or even thrive here? What do we have that they don't? Myself, I think it's because the haves over there have no mercy at all on the have nots. They don't have a lot here, but a person willing to work for it can do quite well for themselves here. Pretty hard to do in Mexico if your not born into at least some affluence. Just my take on it. D

Mexicos problems is not Americas problem. Kinda like the saying not my Rodeo not my clown. Those wanting to get away need to do it in a legal manner. Otherwise the citizens need to fix their toilet themselves.

Yep. That's a very liberal way to look at Mexico. If accepted what's next? What about the poor people in all the rest of the world? Better let them all in.

I say Mexico is screwed because all the good ones are here so there's not enough good ones left to make their country better.

We can't tell Mexico how to run their country. Just like we wouldn't want them to tell us how to run ours. There's simply no place for sympathy unless you want to go to war and take over another country IMO

Agree. They come here for jobs and free stuff. Lets cut out the jobs and free stuff. Not sure why that is so hard to do. Except that there is a lot of $$$ from this lining the pockets of our politicians. While we are at it impose term limits. That should take care of our illegal immigration problem.

Lots of folks discussing if we are actually going to build a wall to keep out illegals. This doesn't make sense to me. If we really want to keep illegals out we just need to enforce our laws.....and make the penalties for hiring illegals such that employers would not risk it. I'm talking LARGE fines and penalties. No wall would be needed. We would need to open up an express lanes for people going back home if they could not get a job.

The same reason that you have locks on your doors, and a fence, gate, etc around your property or lease. Why do you have those things if simply enforcing the law is good enough?

Build the Wall...High and thick. Enforce the laws we have and allow Border Patrol to do their jobs with extreme prejudice. Stop making all of our Highway Patrol Officers supplement the BP and baby sit the invading hoardes coming from the South. If any City in the Country says its a Sanctuary City..All State and Federal Funding STOPS!
