I would check the mounting hardware first and make sure everything is good there. If that is all good you might need to send it in.

Call Vortex and talk to Tim Austin. I think he will be able to help you diagnose the problem.

Here is his direct line: 608-662-1069

                Vortex scope trouble

Are you sure the scope is the problem?

Many rifles just do not like the Hornady Superformance Ammo. I saw that you also said Hornady Custom too, but I would try a box of different ammo first.

On edit: I wonder if they sold him a scope with adjustments in MILs instead of MOA?

^ this is possible. My primary ranch rifle hates hornady... drives tacks with coreloks..

I had some initial issues with my Vortex HS-T, but it was because the Bass Pro fella improperly mounted the scope. After getting it mounted correctly, it locked in and has been an excellent scope. I've shot with it out to 1000 yards and nearly maxed out the elevation and it is still going very strong.

This is why I wanted the OP to call Tim at Vortex. He is an optics tech with a lot of experience. He has told me the number one issue with a new scope that wont sight in is improper mounting.

Listen to this ^^^^. Tim will bend over backwards to make sure you get it figured out. I've never seen costumer service like it.

I agree with those stated above. I have no luck with the superformance.
