If LSU wins out it will get tricky but if Coach O loses one of the last two then I think you go Jimbo or Herman. Herman hasn't been on A&M radar until they lost to the state of Mississippi. Then you have to factor in Texas getting rid of Strong for Herman.

Well, everybody doesn't start at the top. Gilbert will get better with play calling. This is his first major experience calling plays and Texas' first year with the offense. All the while, trying to protect a freshman QB and young offensive line.

I counted 6 or 7 in about 400 touches all told over 3 years. That isn't terrible, but he has 4 this year.

It's obvious he's protecting his freshmen QB, they don't throw over the middle of the field. But, he's a freshmen and playing his tail off in the simplified scheme. Future is bright with this kid.

Overall, I agree. But he calls some definite head scratching plays and series. That's what a lot of people complain about.
There's also no kind of trickery. I get that's not the offense, but right now, Texas needs it.

I hear you. He's learning. Heck, it took Meacham about 8 games this year to figure out the offense and he's been calling plays a while. I feel your frustration
